Thank you for your response! No, I’m not looking for something to complain about. The dance was not apparently scripted. The earlier commencement video provides no evidence that the platform VIPs danced during the same moment (the commencements were mostly the same, otherwise — same words, etc.). So, to my knowledge, the VIPs did indeed take up time unnecessarily just to “show off,” or to show they were “cool” like the kids. Why this is AOK, but why the graduates showing off for less time than that after four years of hard work required manhandling off the stage, is the question we should really be thinking about.
